Alec Stocker Johnson serves as the Assistant Athletics Director of Communications and Content since July 2022. He leads the department's athletic communications for all varsity sports while serving as the primary contact for hockey, department matters and all UND-hosted national tournaments. Johnson will also be responsible for managing UND Insider, the department's video content arm.

Prior to joining the UND staff in 2018, Johnson spent the 2017-18 season as a graduate assistant in athletic communications at St. John's University in Queens, N.Y. There, he served as the primary contact for the men's lacrosse, track and field, cross country, and tennis programs, secondary contact for men's and women's basketball, and oversaw the department's social media strategy while at the university.

While a student at UND, Johnson worked as an intern in the athletic communications office for three-and-a-half seasons and spent time with nearly every athletic program. He worked hand-in-hand with the men's hockey program throughout his time, attending three Frozen Fours and assisting at the 2015 and 2017 NCAA West Regionals as the assistant media coordinator. Johnson was honored with the department's prestigious Dave St. Peter Scholarship for his efforts as an intern.

Johnson also spent time serving as the interim site coordinator for GiGi's Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center in Fargo during the summer of 2017. During that time, he helped coordinate the fundraising efforts for the site's golf tournament as well as helping spearhead the social media strategy.

The Fargo, N.D., native graduated from UND in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and French.

Both of Johnson's parents, Steve and Teri (Stocker), were graduates of UND's undergrad and medical school programs, with his father playing football and serving as a team captain for the Fighting Sioux from 1983-85 while his mother was a member of the cheer squad for football and basketball. He is also the great-nephew of Ralph and Betty (Stocker) Engelstad. His grandparents, Ralph and Dolores Stocker, were named Honorary Letterwinners at UND in 2012. He has one brother, Blake, with Down syndrome.

Johnson currently resides in East Grand Forks, Minn. with his wife, Signey, and daughter, Margaret.
