Dan Johansson was named equipment manager for the North Dakota hockey program during the summer of 2018 after having spent the previous five years at Canisius College.
He has been crucial in helping North Dakota secure some of the top equipment deals in collegiate hockey, working directly with Adidas and CCM. Johansson was also at the forefront in helping design the program's "NoDak" jerseys, worn for select home games beginning in the 2021-22 season, as well as the specialty jerseys seen at the 2021 and 2022 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Games in Nashville and Las Vegas.
Following the 2024-25 season, Johansson worked with CCM to design four new uniforms for the program -- marking the first redesign to a uniform set for UND hockey in over a decade.
Johansson served as assistant equipment manager for the Golden Griffins from 2013-14 to 2015-16 before being elevated to head equipment manager in 2016-17.
Johansson’s background also includes international experience, having served as team services liaison for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo and as the equipment manager for the 2017 and 2018 USA Hockey Under-17 and Under-16 Player Development Camps.
He also served as the head equipment manager for the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Buffalo Jr. Sabres in 2015-16.
A native of Webster, N.Y., Johansson graduated magna cum laude from Canisius in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in management and a minor in human resources. He added a master’s degree in business administration from Canisius in 2018. He resides in Grand Forks with his dog, Boone.
