Emily Evers concluded her second season as assistant coach in 2019-20, following a one-season stint as a volunteer on the UND bench.
Over the last three seasons, Evers has helped mentor the Fighting Hawks forwards, including Cheryl Miller Award Top-10 Finalist and First Team All-Summit League Player Lexi Klabo. The forward, who went on to set the University of North Dakota's record for free throws made and attempted, was also named to the Big Sky's All-Conference team twice, earning first team honors as a junior and second team accolades as a sophomore.
In 2019-20, Evers helped guide the Fighting Hawks to its first season with a record of .500 or better since 2016-17, and mentored a group led by Julia Fleecs who earned Second Team All-Summit League. While UND finished second in The League in rebounds per game (41.7), junior Melissa Leet finished third in The Summit League in blocks with 51 despite missing 10 games with injury.
Evers was a two-time conference sixth woman of the year, winning the honor as a redshirt freshman in the team's final season in the Great West Conference, then doing the same in her junior campaign in the Big Sky Conference. That season, she was part of UND's first NCAA Division I Tournament team, the 2014 team that went 22-10 and won the league's regular season and tournament titles.
As a senior, Evers scored 11.3 points and grabbed 8.5 rebounds per game, earning All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention accolades as the Fighting Hawks returned to the postseason at the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI). She became the 31st member of the 1,000-point club at UND and finished her career with 1,026 points, 750 rebounds and 177 blocks.
Upon graduation, Evers played professionally overseas for Gran Canaria (Spain). There, she led her squad in rebounding (8.4 per game) and blocks (0.6/game) while adding six points per contest.
In 2017-18, Evers was on the bench serving in a voluntary role as coordinator for player development, helping the coaching staff in a number of different areas.
