The addition of Cale Wallace to the University of North Dakota track & field and cross country programs was Christine Engel's first big decision at the helm of the program, hiring the former Arkansas Razorback and All-American to the Fighting Hawk staff on Aug. 14, 2019.

Entering his second season in 2020, Wallace will continue to work with the North Dakota distance runners alongside Engel.

Since Wallace's arrival on staff, the North Dakota women's cross country team recorded its best finish at the NCAA West Region Championship and had its highest regional placer on the men's side since 2016. On the track, the Fighting Hawks have set five school records - including a new distance medley relay record - and 51 new marks on UND's top-10 list.

Before his arrival in 2019, Wallace spent the previous two seasons as a volunteer for the Razorbacks, helping the powerhouse program produce 10 All-Americans and seven Southeastern Conference Champions.

Arkansas' women's track & field team won the 2019 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships as well as SEC Championships, while the men's and women's cross country programs won South Regional Championships in 2018.

As a student-athlete, Wallace earned First Team All-America honors as a sophomore at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships in the Distance Medley Relay, helping the Razorbacks to a team National Championship.

The Cypress, Texas native was twice named an All-Region runner in cross country and served as team captain for the track and cross country teams. Wallace helped Arkansas to an impressive seven SEC Conference Championships and was runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2016 SEC Championship.
