Becca Shane is a recent graduate of Concordia-Moorhead. She finished this past spring with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a coaching minor. She is currently taking undergraduate physical therapy courses at UND and plans to apply for the program this year.
During her four years at Concordia, Shane helped lead the Cobbers to four consecutive NCAA playoff appearances as a middle hitter. She was a four-time MIAC all-conference selection and was twice named to the All-Region team (2004, 2006). In 2003, she was named the MIAC Rookie of the Year and the Central Region Freshman of the Year. As a sophomore, Shane was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American Second Team.
In her final year with Concordia, Shane was honored as the MIAC MVP, was named to the AVCA All-American First Team, and became the first Concordia player to ever be named the AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. She finished the season at the top of the MIAC in blocks, finished third in kills and fourth in hitting percentage. She was ranked 19th nationally in hitting percentage, 24th in blocks per game and 28th in kills.
After leading the Cobbers in kills, attack percentage, and blocks, Shane finished her collegiate career with 1,519 kills, 511 blocks, 368 block assists and 143 solo blocks. She currently holds the Concordia-Moorhead career record for total blocks and finished second on the school's all-time career list in kills, solo blocks and block assists.
A Detroit Lakes, Minn., native, Shane's previous coaching experience includes two years with the Detroit Lakes Junior Olympic Volleyball team (2005, 2007) and one year with the Fargo North Junior Olympic team (2007).
