Wilson, who is a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native, arrives in Grand Forks after a stint as both a player and coach at his alma mater – the University at Albany (UAlbany). Wilson was a two-time captain and earned All-America East honors as a player for the Great Danes from 2004-08.  The Danes advanced to the NCAA Tournament during his sophomore (2006) and junior (2007) seasons and he was named to the America East All-Championship team as a junior.

After a brief period working in the private business sector, Wilson returned to UAlbany as the director of basketball operations prior to the 2009-10 season.

He was elevated to an assistant coaching position for the 2011-12 season. The Great Danes improved from a seven-win team in 2009-10 all the way to a 19-win team during Wilson’s three seasons on the staff.
