Mike Moffitt joined the Fighting Sioux volleyball program as
an assistant coach on March 3.
Moffitt comes to UND after spending the previous six seasons
on the volleyball staff at Texas Tech. He was elevated to the top assistant
post and recruiting coordinator three seasons ago for the Big 12 conference
school. Moffitt will assume the same role with the Sioux.
“We are extremely excited to bring in a coach of Mike’s
caliber to help this program continue its transition to the Division I level,”
UND head coach Ashley Hardee said. “He brings with him an extraordinary amount
of Division I recruiting and coaching experience. This is a home run for the
UND volleyball program.”
In his six seasons in Lubbock,
Moffitt helped guide the Red Raiders to a trio of NCAA Championship
appearances. As a collegiate player, Moffitt excelled as a setter on the club
level in Texas
where he was named to the SIVA All-Conference team three times. He also worked
as a student-assistant coach with the women’s team while attending Texas Tech.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Fighting Sioux family,”
Moffitt said. “I know that coach Hardee is an outstanding coach, and I am very
excited to be able to learn from him, as well as do the best I can to help out
in the gym and recruiting. It is a great feeling to be a part of taking UND
volleyball to the next level.”
