Jimmie Foster serve as an assistant coach and his primary responsibilities will be recruiting, video coordination and working with the Fighting Sioux post players.

Foster comes to North Dakota after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Eagles went a combined 60-10 in his two seasons at the school, finishing third nationally in 2008 and as the runner-up in Division II in 2009. During his two-year stint, Foster helped nine Eagles earn all-conference honors, while two of his players went on to earn All-America honors.

A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Foster was a standout player at Rufus King High School before going on to a successful collegiate career at Kirkwood and the University of South Dakota. At Kirkwood, Foster earned All-America honors (second team) as a sophomore and helped lead the Eagles to a pair of ICCAC Championships. He was twice named an All-Region XI performer during his tenure with the Eagles.

 

After transferring to South Dakota for his final two collegiate seasons, Foster was a two-time All-North Central Conference honoree and was named the league’s Newcomer of the Year in 2001 for the Coyotes. Foster earned his bachelor’s degree in recreation from USD in 2002.

  

Foster’s coaching career began back in his hometown where he was an assistant varsity coach for Milwaukee Juneau High School from 2005-06.
