University of North Dakota head baseball coach Jeff Dodson announced Zack Trygstad will join his staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2015 season. Trygstad recently finished up a solid career in a UND uniform and will join seventh-year associate head coach J.C. Field and eighth-year assistant coach Brian DeVillers on Dodson's coaching staff.
"We are thrilled to have Zack come back and coach with us," Dodson said at the time of his hiring. "He was a good player for us and we look forward to him bringing his experience as a player to our club."
Trygstad, a four-year starter at a host of different positions for UND, finished his career with a lifetime .282 batting average. Playing in 175 games, Trygstad scored 93 runs and drove in 90. He smacked 10 career triples to rank second all-time at North Dakota. The Wayzata, Minn., native struck out just 82 times in 701 career plate appearances.
