Steve Parsons is entering his first season with the Fighting Sioux.  Last season he served as an assistant coach at Ashland University.  While with the Eagles he helped lead the men’s team to a fourth place finish in the GLIAC.  He also coached two swimmers to conference champion honors. 

 

Prior to working with Ashland’s swim teams, he spent a season working with the Ashland High School program.  At Ashland High he helped coach both the men’s & women’s teams to third place conference finishes.  Through his coaching four women were able to qualify for the Ohio High School State Meet. 

 

Coach Parsons spent two seasons at Wheeling Jesuit University.  In Parsons' first season with the Cardinals, he stepped in as the Interim Head Coach and guided the men’s team to a second consecutive conference crown, while leading the Lady Cardinals to a third place conference finish.  In Steve’s second season with WJU he assisted in guiding the men’s team to their third conference championship in three years.  He also helped lead the women’s team to a second place showing, the best women’s team finish ever at conference.  He has coached an Olympian, an NCAA Division II national record holder/champion, qualified 7 individuals for the NCAA national meet, guided six individuals to All-American honors and the first two Academic All-Americans in the history of the program. 

 

Coach Parsons spent four seasons competing as a swimmer at Ashland University, where he was a three-time All-American.  Steve received his master’s degree in business administration in 2002 from Wheeling Jesuit University and his bachelor’s degree in biology from Ashland University in 1997.
