GRAND FORKS, N.D.--UND goalie Philippe Lamoureux (Fr., Grand Forks, N.D.) stopped 28 of 29 shots, and forward Colby Genoway (Sr., Morden, Manitoba) recorded two assists to lead the Sioux men's hockey team to a 2-1 win over visiting Colorado College on Saturday.
The win snapped a four-game winless streak for the Sioux (5-3-2 overall, 3-2-1 WCHA). It was the first loss of the season for Colorado College (5-1-0 overall, 1-1-0).
After a scoreless first period, the Sioux got on the board when Chris Porter (So., Thunder Bay, Ontario) scored a power play goal at 15:46 of the second period. UND upped its lead to 2-0 on a goal by Drew Stafford (So., Faribault, Minn.) at 7:59 of the third period.
Colorado College narrowed the margin to 2-1 on a goal by Brett Sterling at 7:51 of the third, but the Sioux held off the Tigers to gain the win.
Colorado College outshot the Sioux, 29-22, but Lamoureux was outstanding in his first career home start, with 10 of his saves coming while the Tigers were on the power play.
