GRAND FORKS, N.D.--The Fighting Sioux have placed a conference-high 22 student-athletes on the North Central Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, announced earlier today by the league office.
UND has now led the league in selections in each of the three years that the NCC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll has been in existence.
In order to qualify, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.20 grade point average, have completed at least two semesters at their current school and have competed against outside competition.
Highlighting UND's 22 selections were three-time honorees Weston Dressler (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.), Rory Manke (Jr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.), Drake Otto (Jr., Kenosha, Wis.) and Andrew Sorbo (Sr., Adams, N.D.).
Twelve Fighting Sioux student-athletes made their second appearance on the honor roll, including Donovan Alexander (Sr., Winnipeg, Man.), Mitch Braegelmann (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.), Branden Dungy (So, Eagan, Minn.), Danny Freund (Jr., Kenosha, Wis.), Link Gottbeheat (So., Tomah, Wis.), Brandon Hellevang (So., Fargo, N.D.), Andy Miller (So., Menomonie, Wis.), Nick Nolte (So., Janesville, Wis.), Jeff Tescher (So., Bismarck, N.D.), Marcus Tibesar (So., St. Paul, Minn.), Brady Trenbeath (So., Cavalier, N.D.) and Brian Troen (Jr., Racine, Wis.).
Making their first appearance on the honor roll were Ty Boyle (Fr., International Falls, Minn.), Ryan Dressler (Fr., Bismarck, N.D.), Curtis Dublanko (Fr., Thorsby, Alberta), Paul German (Fr., Fargo, N.D.), Kyle Krusenstjerna (Fr., Apple Valley, Minn.) and Erik Moe (Jr., International Falls, Minn.).
