Busso, Moraes receive NCC honors

GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? Fighting Sioux swimmer Natalia Busso (Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Daniel Moraes (So., Salvador Brazil) have been named North Central Conference Swimmers of the Week.

 

Busso had a record-setting day at the Falcons Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. last weekend. Taking second place in the 500 freestyle, Busso broke the UND school record with her time of 5:02.23. Busso won both the 100 and 200 freestyle events at the Invite. She was also a member of two first-place relay teams; 400 and 800 freestyle relays (A cut).

 

Busso was also a member of the second-place 400 medley relay (A cut) and third-place 200 freestyle relay (A cut).  In addition, Busso qualified for the national meet in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle events (A cut).

 

Moraes won the 200 IM and 100 freestyle and was a member of the first-place 400 and 800 relay teams (A cut). Moraes was also a member of the second-place 200 medley relay (A cut) took third place in both the 400 IM and 400 medley relay (A cut). Moraes qualified for nationals in the 200 IM (A cut), 400 freestyle relay (A cut), 400 IM (B cut) and 100 freestyle (B cut).

 

This marks the third time for Moraes and the second for Busso that the NCC has honored them as a Swimmer of the Week this season.

 

Notes: The old school record in the women's 500 freestyle was set by was set by Janice Berry in 2002 with a time of 5:02.23.
