GRAND FORKS, N.D.--Members of the media, community and campus are invited to attend an open session on Tuesday, April 3, with Stacy Wilson, candidate for the University of North Dakota head women's hockey coach position.
Wilson served as an assistant coach and associate head coach with the University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team from 1999 to 2004 and helped guide the Bulldogs to three consecutive NCAA Division I national championships (2001, 2002 & 2003). She was a member of the American College Hockey Association (ACHA) Women's College Coaching Staff of the Year in 2003.
Prior to her coaching career, Wilson spent eight years as a player on the Canadian national team (1990-98) and was the team captain for her last three seasons. As a player Wilson won a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and won four world championships (1997, 1994, 1992 & 1990). She also won Pacific Rim gold medals in 1996 and 1995 and a Three Nations Cup gold medal in 1996.
Wilson is also the published author of The Hockey Book For Girls, which has sold over 10,000 copies to date and was nominated for the British Columbia Red Cedar Book Award.
The open session, which is also open to the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee, former UND letterwinners and the women's hockey FRIENDS group, will take place at 4:45 in the student-athlete lounge at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
