Two UND track athletes qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? Two University of North Dakota track student-athletes have qualified for this weekend's NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, to be held Friday and Saturday in Boston at the Reggie Lewis Center at Roxbury Community College.
 
Competing from the UND men's team will be sprinter Donovan Alexander (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Paul's High School), who will be competing in the 60-meter dash. Alexander, who is seeded third with a qualifying time of 6.75, will run in prelims at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Finals in the 60-yard dash will be run at 4:53 p.m. on Saturday.
 
This will be the first time Alexander has competed at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
 
Competing from UND's women's team will be mid-distance runner Heidi Evans (Sr., Roseau, Minn.), who will be competing in the 800-meter run. Evans, who is seeded fourth with a qualifying time of 2:12.86, will run in prelims at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Finals in the 800-meter run will be run at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Evans finished 13th in the 800-meter run in the 2006 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
 
Stonehill College and the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center will serve as hosts of the championships.
