GRAND FORKS, N.D.--The University of North Dakota football team will hold its annual Green-White intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, April 21, beginning at noon at historic Memorial Stadium.
The event is free for the public and will conclude four weeks of spring practice for the Fighting Sioux.
The controlled scrimmage will feature UND's offense versus the defense and will simulate game situations. UND's spring roster will include more than 50 returning players with game experience, including 2006 All-North Central Conference selections Donovan Alexander (defensive back), Mitch Braegelmann (offensive line), Ryan Chappell (running back), Brent Halfmann (punter), Brandon Hellevang (kicker) and Brian Troen (offensive line).
Saturday's scrimmage will mark UND's first football event at Memorial Stadium since the 2005 spring game. Memorial Stadium was the home of Fighting Sioux football from 1927 to 2000 after opening as a memorial to members of the University of North Dakota community who died during World War I. UND amassed a 247-88-9 (.731) all-time record at Memorial Stadium and played its final game there on Oct. 28, 2000.
UND went 11-2 in 2006 and captured a second straight North Central Conference title, advancing to the NCAA quarterfinal round.
