MANKATO, Minn.--Augustana starting pitcher Afton Murray tossed a complete-game three-hitter to lead the Vikings past the Fighting Sioux 5-1 today at the Microtel Inn & Suites Tournament, UND's final game of the day.
Murray allowed just one unearned run, a Justine Wernick (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) RBI fielder's choice in the bottom of the first inning that tied the game at 1-1.
But Augie countered with three runs in the top of the second inning, first on an Alicia DeHoogh RBI double, then on a two-run home run from Erika Wolner. The Vikings would add one more run in the fifth inning, courtesy of an Allison Hubers RBI single.
Freshman pitcher Marie Kriegler (Lino Lakes, Minn.) was tagged with the loss to fall to 8-13, giving up eight hits and five earned runs.
UND, now 16-24 overall, will resume tournament play tomorrow against Winona State and Missouri Western State.
