GRAND FORKS, N.D.--The Fighting Sioux football team, coming off of a 59-0 win over Humboldt State last Thursday in the 2007 season opener, is ranked fourth nationally in this week's CollegeSportsReport.com Division II football rankings.
The victory helped UND climb to spots from its preseason ranking of No. 6. The top three teams in the preseason poll, No. 1 Delta State, No. 2 Grand Valley State and No. 3 Northwest Missouri State, have yet to play and maintained their rankings in this week's poll.
The Sioux are one of three North Central Conference teams ranked among the top 25, joining No. 6 Nebraska-Omaha and No. 8 South Dakota.
UND (1-0) is idle this week and returns to action on Sep. 8 at Southern Utah.
