GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- University of North Dakota football coach Chris Mussman has announced the addition of Filipe Fonseca da Silva to the 2008 recruit class.

Fonseca da Silva, a linebacker from Laval, Quebec, was the 2006 and 2007 Team Most Valuable Player for the Montmorency College prep school in Laval. He led the Quebec AAA College league in tackles in 2007 (82 in seven games) and 2006 (111). As a 2007 member of Team Canada, he helped the team to a Global Junior Championship and was named to the Tournament All-Star Team. He was also named to the 2006 league all-star team and was the 2005 Defensive MVP of the Bol d'Or, the Quebec Provincial Championship.
