Six Fighting Sioux men's hockey players named to All-WCHA teams

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A WCHA league-high six University of North Dakota men's hockey players were honored as All-WCHA selections this afternoon at the league awards banquet.

The Fighting Sioux had two players named to the All-WCHA first team, three players on the All-WCHA second team and one player to the All-WCHA third team.

It is the second-most all-conference selections that UND has ever had. The only other year UND had six or more players named to the All-WCHA teams was in the 1998-99 season, when seven UND players were honored (two 1st team selections, four 2nd team selections and one 3rd team selection).

This season UND's first team selections were forward T.J. Oshie (Jr., Warroad, Minn.) and defenseman Taylor Chorney (Jr., Hastings, Minn.). Chorney made the league's second team last season, while Oshie was on the third team last season.

The last time that UND had two first team All-WCHA selections was in 2003-04, when both Zach Parise and Brandon Bochenski were named first team All-WCHA.

This season Oshie has a team-high 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) and is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals. He finished fourth in WCHA scoring with 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) in 27 league games.

Chorney has 21 points (2 goals, 19 assists) this season and finished tied for fourth in scoring by defensemen in WCHA league games with 16 points (2 goals, 14 assists) in 28 conference games.

Named to the All-WCHA second team from UND were goalie Jean-Philippe Lamoureux (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.), forward Ryan Duncan (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) and defenseman Chay Genoway (So., Morden, Manitoba). It is the first time that Lamoureux and Genoway have earned all-league honors. Duncan was an All-WCHA first team selection last season.

Lamoureux won the league goaltending title with a 1.74 goals against average and finished second in the WCHA with a .929 league save percentage. He played in all 28 UND conference games and has played in 37 of 38 games overall.

Duncan is second on the team in scoring with 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) and tied for fifth in league scoring with 28 points (9 goals, 19 assists) in 28 WCHA games.

Genoway is fourth in team scoring with 25 points (6 goals, 19 assists) and finished second in league scoring by a defenseman with 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists) in 23 conference games.

UND's All-WCHA third team selection was defenseman Robbie Bina (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.). It's the first All-WCHA recognition in Bina's career. Bina has 24 points (2 goals, 22 assists in 38 games this season, and finished third in league scoring by a defenseman with 17 points (1 goal, 16 assists) in conference games.
