GRAND FORKS, N.D.--Former Fighting Sioux defensive back Donovan Alexander has signed a free agent contract with the National Football League's Seattle Seahawks.
Alexander was one of 12 undrafted college free agents signed today by the Seahawks.
The Winnipeg, Maitoba, native was a three-year starter at cornerback for the Sioux and was a two-time All-North Central Conference selection. In January, Alexander participated in the Valero Cactus Bowl, the NCAA Division II All-Star Football game, after completing his senior season.
Alexander played in 52 career games and graduated tied for fourth all-time at UND with 32 pass breakups. He helped lead UND to an NCAA postseason appearance in each of his four seasons and was named to the Academic All-NCC team in 2007. He was also named to the NCC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in each of his final two seasons.
In 2006 Alexander was drafted in the third round (23rd overall) by the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League Canadian Draft.
