Second annual student-athlete food drive to be held Wednesday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -  The University of North Dakota Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), in conjunction with the UND Mortar Board, will conduct a food drive in Grand Forks on Wednesday, Oct. 14 to help provide Thanksgiving meals for needy area families.

UND student-athletes will go door-to-door in neighborhoods throughout Grand Forks from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will collect any non-perishable food items from those wishing to donate.

SAAC president and senior baseball player Josh Lagein encourages the community to donate.

"SAAC is excited about the food drive this year," said Lagein. "We collected about 2,700 cans last year and we're really hoping to go above and beyond that number this year. We know the Grand Forks community is generous and we appreciate the support."

The student-athletes will be identifiable by their official uniforms.

For more information, contact SAAC president Josh Lagein through the UND athletics media relations office at 701.777.2985.
