GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- At this week's press conference, head men's hockey coach Dave Hakstol joked that the only thing the Fighting Sioux need to do is score more goals than Minnesota State.
Although Hakstol may have made a joked about it, there is a bit of truth to the statement for this Fighting Sioux team. When they score they win (12-1 record when UND scores more than 4). When they don't, they lose (0-10-2 when they score two goals or under).
"Our game is playing on our toes, playing fast, playing aggressive, and doing it for 60 minutes" Hakstol said. "If we do that, we have a pretty good chance for success. If we don't do that, we put ourselves at pretty great risk."
Senior forward Andrew Kozek said it takes all four lines to be successful on any given night.
"If we're playing our game with all four line being physical and fast, and playing our style, it should a good series," Kozek said.
Brian Idalski, head coach of the Fighting Sioux women's hockey team, could also use goals this weekend at Minnesota, but he's knows UND will need to throw a lot at the Gophers this weekend in order to be successful.
"We're going to do whatever we have to win," Idalski said. "We're going to try to win. We're not just going to be in awe and hope to keep it close."
