UND keeps climbing, ranked ninth in USCHO poll

GRAND FORKS, N.D. ? The University of North Dakota is ranked ninth in the nation in the latest USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Division I men's hockey poll, released earlier today.

The Fighting Sioux climbed two spots from last week's poll after earning a Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) sweep over Minnesota State University, Mankato last weekend in Grand Forks. The sweep enabled UND to move into a tie with Denver for first place in the WCHA standings.

UND, 18-11-3 overall and and 13-6-3 in the WCHA, is 13-3-2 since the start of December and has lost just once in its last 12 conference games (9-1-2).

Top-ranked Boston University maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot with 44 of 50 first-place votes. Second-ranked Notre Dame received the remaining six first-place votes.

UND is one of seven WCHA teams appearing in this week's poll, joining No. 8 Denver, No. 13 Wisconsin, No. 14 Minnesota, No. 15 Minnesota Duluth, No. 18 Colorado College and No. 19 St. Cloud State.

The Sioux will travel to Alaska Anchorage next weekend to face the unranked Seawolves.
