VERMILLION, S.D.--Four different Fighting Sioux claimed event championships and three more took runner-up honors today at the Graphic Edge Alumni Meet hosted by the University of South Dakota at the DakotaDome.
Sophomore Chris Stoks (Virginia, Minn.) took first place in the 200-meters with a time of 22.75 seconds. He also added a runner-up effort in the 400 meters, clocking in at 51.36 seconds.
Another Sioux sophomore, Tyler Rose (Brainerd, Minn.), won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:36.77.
Freshman Bryant Halvorson (Rugby, N.D.) captured the long jump with a leap of 6.85 meters.
Senior Creighton Schroyer (Pipestone, Minn.) won the shot put with a heave of 15.33 meters.
Junior thrower Brandon Quesenberry (Billings, Mont.) enjoyed a solid day, claiming runner-up honors in both the shot put (14.77 meters) and the weight throw (14.79 meters).
Also, senior distance runner Josh LaBlanc (International Falls, Minn.) finished second in the mile run with a tine of 4:21.61.
