Sioux climb in one poll, hold steady in another

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota's ascent in the USCHO.com Division I men's poll continued today, with the latest rankings slotting the Fighting Sioux third behind only top-ranked Yale and No. 2 New Hampshire.

The Sioux, who had been ranked fifth in the last week's USCHO poll, earned a WCHA road sweep at Minnesota State over the weekend, winning 4-3 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday.

UND remained ranked No. 5 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, also released today.

Last weekend's sweep at MSU marked the end of the first half of the regular season for the Sioux, who sit atop the WCHA standings with an 11-3-0 conference record. UND is also the winningest team in the nation with a 13-5-2 overall record.

The Sioux will host the United States Under-18 Team in an exhibition game on Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena. UND will open the second half at No. 3/4 Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 30.
