EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - North Dakota's Kyle Rosseau and Chris Stoks each sprinted to runner-up finishes in their respective events today, highlighting UND's day at the inaugural Gateway Classic hosted by Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
Rosseau, a senior from Eagan, Minn., finished second in 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.20. He was topped only by Jordan Jennings' (unattached) time of 1:54.03.
Stoks, a sophomore from Virginia, Minn., was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 49.94 and missing out on first place by just under three quarters of a second.
Also in the 400-meter dash, UND's Mark Barclay (Sr., Grand Forks) finished fourth with a time of 51.16.
Other top-five finishes today for the Fighting Sioux included Jeremy Jones (Sr., Grand Forks) in the 800-meters and Bryant Halvorson (Fr., Rugby, N.D.) in the long jump. Jones recorded a time of 1:59.45 and Halvorson logged a leap of 21-02.00 feet (6.45 meters).
The Sioux return to action April 22-24 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
