GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Released by CollegeSwimming.com, University of North Dakota senior Carissa Gormally has been named to the 2010 Division I Mid-Major All-America swim team.

A native of Williston, N.D., Gormally earned UND's first NCAA Division I women's conference title with season-best time in the 50 free at the 2010 C-USA Swimming and Diving Championships in Houston. She posted an NCAA DI B-cut time of 22.86 to win the 50 free title. It was her fastest time of the season and the second-fastest of her career. Last year her UND record-breaking time of 22.75 earned her runner-up honors in Houston.

Gormally also picked up a C-USA title in the 100 free with a time of 49.53. In addition to her conference title, she set a new UND record in the event bettering her own time of 50.01 set at the 2009 C-USA championships.

Individual and relay events combined, Gormally won 28 event titles this past season and registered over 40 top 10 finishes.

The 2010 Division I Mid-Major All-America swim team list includes 16 women and nine men from all over the country. Honors were based on qualification for the 2010 NCAA Division I Championships.

An additional 183 swimmers were awarded Honorable Mention status by earning NCAA 'B' time standards and being entered into the 2010 NCAA Championships.

Mid-Major institutions are designated as colleges or universities that are not affiliated with a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) conference as well as those institutions that award less than half of the maximum-allowable scholarships.
