North Dakota football signs Adedayo Idowu to NLI

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota head football coach Chris Mussman and his staff announced today that Adedayo Idowu has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for UND starting the 2011 season.

"It took a little extra time, but we are grateful that Adedayo has made the decision to become a part of our football family," said co-defensive coordinator John Kelling. "Him being a multi-faceted athlete who played a number of positions in high school, he will add some much needed depth to our secondary, especially at the safety position."

A 6-2 senior from Eastridge High School in Woodbury, Minn., Idowu was a two-way starter (quarterback/safety) and team captain last season for the Raptors. An All-Suburban East Conference first team pick, he passed for 345 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another 622 yards and eight scores. Defensively, he landed 46 tackles (seven for loss), five sacks, and an interception.

Idowu's commitment was the 18th received by Mussman and his staff during this signing period. He is one of seven signees from Minnesota.
