GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota head swimming and diving coach Steve Parsons announced today that Minnesota native Alison Tonsager has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Fighting Sioux for the 2011-12 season.
"Alison will make a great addition to our women's team," Parsons said. "She has a solid foundation of swimming behind her and has the potential to develop into an excellent swimmer. I am looking forward to seeing how Alison progresses over the next few years."
A five-year letterwinner from Anoka High School, Tonsager is a three-time Northwest Suburban All-Conference honoree. She was named team MVP each of the past four years and was three times voted hardest worker.
A two-year member of the National Honor Society, Tonsager recently graduated with highest honors.
"A well-rounded student-athlete, Alison not only shows promise in the pool, but in the classroom as well," Parsons said.
