GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota men's and women's tennis teams have announced its captains for the 2014-15 seasons. Senior
Callie Ronkowski will serve as the captain for the women's team while juniors
David Bergstrom and
Connor Oberle were named co-captains of the men's team.
Ronkowski, a native of Grand Forks, N.D., is the lone senior for UND this season. She returns to North Dakota after finishing the 2013-14 seasons with an 11-7 record, including a 7-3 mark in Big Sky Conference play. Ronkowski was named Big Sky Player of the Week twice and earned All-Big Sky Second Team honors. She is currently pursuing a master's in public administration.
Bergstrom, a native of Grand Marais, Minn., represents one-half of the captains for the North Dakota men's team this season. The junior returns to Grand Forks this season hoping to continue from his best season at UND a year ago. Bergstrom picked up his first collegiate win last season on Feb. 21 against Portland State. He is currently majoring in kinesiology.
Oberle, a native of Excelsior, Minn., represents the other half of the captains for the North Dakota men's team this season. The junior will look to pick up where he left off last season, playing four matches at No. 1 and eight at No. 3. Oberle also picked up five wins in doubles matches last season, all of which coming at No. 2. Oberle is continuing his major in mechanical engineering.
The spring season begins for the women on Jan. 18, at Minnesota and on Feb. 7, vs. South Dakota State for the men.
