GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota senior captain Dillon Simpson was named to the All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) First Team, while teammates Michael Parks and Jordan Schmaltz earned second-team honors today as the NCHC announced the league's inaugural all-conference team.
Additionally, UND freshman defenseman Paul LaDue was named to the league's all-rookie team.
Simpson, who was the top vote-getter among defensemen, scored 19 points in 24 NCHC games to tie for the league lead among defensemen. The Edmonton, Alberta, native also led all rearguards in goals (6), power-play goals (5) and game-winning goals (2) while anchoring UND's power play and penalty killing units.
Schmaltz, Simpson's defensive partner, was named to the second team after collecting four goals and 11 assists during conference play to tie for fourth in the defenseman scoring race. The Verona, Wis., native has a career-high 20 points (4 goals, 16 assists) in 33 games overall this season.
Parks scored a team-leading nine goals in 24 NCHC games and added 13 assists for 22 points. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Parks has 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points overall this season, new personal highs in all three categories.
LaDue had four goals and eight assists in 23 conference games and led all NCHC freshmen with a plus-12 plus/minus rating. In 33 games this season, the Grand Forks native has five goals and 11 assists and leads the team with a plus-14 rating.
