GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota men's tennis team finished its second season in the Big Sky Conference. The team was competing in just its second season since 1989-90.
UND concluded the 2013-14 season with a 3-15 overall mark and a 2-8 record in Big Sky Conference play.
“We played the toughest schedule, men or women, in UND history and I think we held up well verses teams like Iowa, UNLV, Nebraska, Ball State, and Air Force,” says Head Coach
Tom Wynne.
Highlights from the season include wins against Nebraska-Omaha and conference opponents Idaho State and Southern Utah.
Senior captain
Ryan McGuigan (Fargo, N.D.) was influential team's progress.
“Ryan proved to be a tremendous leader with his work ethic, leadership and play. He was the perfect student-athlete as he was named the team's most valuable player as well as a 4.0 student in the aviation program,” says Wynne.
Next season will be a rebuilding year for the team with the loss of McGuigan,
Josh Oothoudt (Minot, N.D.) and
Grant Bakke (Bismarck, N.D.), but the team will bring in several new players.
