LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Junior Drew Campbell led the University of North Dakota men's cross country team to a 19th-place finish at the NCAA Division I Midwest Regional on Friday at Rim Rock Farm.
Campbell led all UND runners with a time of 31 minutes, 37.3 seconds in the 10K. That placed him in the top half of the field of 192 runners at 66th overall, and is also well ahead of his time of 33:12.2 from last year's NCAA Midwest Regional.
Tulsa's Marc Scott took home first place after finishing in a time of 29:37.1, and Oklahoma State finished atop the team standings with 59 points.
As a team, North Dakota finished ahead of Loyola (Ill.), Kansas State, South Dakota, Saint Louis, Drake, DePaul, and Creighton.
Freshman Alec Anderson also earned a top-half finish, placing 77th behind a time of 31:44.0. Junior Darin Baltezore was next for the team, taking 130th with a time of 32:39.7.
Also competing for UND was sophomore Connor Danielson, who bested his pace from last year with a time of 33:05.3 on Friday afternoon. He moved up significantly to a 144th-place finish as well, after finishing 199th at the 2014 Midwest Regional.
The Midwest Regional was the final race of the 2015 season for North Dakota, who closes the campaign having finished eighth at the Big Sky Conference Championship two weeks ago.
