GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Northern Arizona finished off a season sweep of North Dakota with an 85-75 road win Thursday at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
Sophomore Kris Yanku was the nemesis once again for the Lumberjacks (16-12, 11-4 BSC), who have won eight of their last nine.
He had 26 points in the home win for NAU in Flagstaff and had a game-high 24 points tonight, including going 16-for-16 from the free throw line.
Sophomore Quinton Hooker equaled his career-high with 20 points for the second straight game, but UND (8-19, 4-11 BSC) dropped its sixth straight in league play.
Senior Lenny Antwi added a season-high 15 points for the home team in what was just his second start of the season. Antwi started for junior Estan Tyler, who was out with an injury.
Forward Jordan Martyn had 17 points and nine rebounds for NAU, who controlled the glass with a 43-24 edge.
Zachary Reynolds added season-highs with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Thirteen of NAU's boards were on the offensive end, turning those into 12 second-chance points.
NAU led by 13 in the first half, but UND closed the opening 20 minutes on an 11-4 run to make it a 42-36 contest at the break.
UND would get as close as three points of the Jacks in second half on a dunk by freshman Bryce Cashman, but NAU would extend its advantage back to double figures to reclaim control of the contest.
Senior Jaron Nash had 12 points and his layup with just over seven minutes to play drew his team within five, but that would be as close as UND would get down the stretch.
Yanku answered that basket with a pair of free throws as NAU finished 26-for-30 as a team. UND managed to go just 14-for-21 from the stripe.
UND will take on Southern Utah on Saturday and the 2014-15 senior class will be recognized in a special pre-game ceremony. That quartet includes Antwi, Nash, Chad Calcaterra and Ryan Salmonson.
