GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Not only did the North Dakota football team report to campus on Thursday, but the program also held its annual media day luncheon at the Alerus Center to officially kickoff the 2015 fall camp.
Emcee Dan Hammer of Midco Sports provided a nice introduction to the 2015 season and a brief recap of the 2014 campaign. Special guests in attendance were UND President Dr. Robert Kelley and his wife, Marcia, along with several administrators from the athletics department.
Head coach Bubba Schweigert spoke briefly to a media contingent that consisted of print, television and radio members from throughout the region before giving the floor over to his coordinators. The trio of Eric Schmidt (defensive coordinator), Paul Rudolph (offensive coordinator) Shawn Kostich (special teams coordinator) all broke down their respecitve sides of the ball for the group before one-on-one interviews commenced.
The six players in attendance are the team's six returning senior starters from a 2014 squad that finished 5-7 and won its final two games.
The offense was represented by linemen Brandon Anderson and Sean Meehan along with tight end Zach Adler, while defensive players in attendance were cornerback Chris Brown and linebackers Will Ratelle and Dayo Idowu.
The first team meeting of fall camp was held at 4 p.m. after players checked in and were fitted for equipment. Friday will be day full of meetings with various sectors of campus that are all necessary before the team can take the field for the first time on Saturday morning. That practice is slated for 8:30 a.m. at Memorial Stadium and is open to the public.
