Boeser invited back to Team USA World Junior camp

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota sophomore winger Brock Boeser was one of 27 players named today to the preliminary roster for the 2017 United States National Junior Team.

Boeser is bidding to become one of 23 players on the final roster that will represent the U.S. at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Montreal and Toronto. Boeser won a bronze medal with the United States at last year's tournament in Moscow.

In 13 games this season, Boeser has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. He is tied for ninth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) scoring race despite having missed the last three games due to injury. Boeser, a native of Burnsville, Minn., earned All-America honors as a freshman last season after leading the conference with 27 goals and 60 points in 42 games.

Boeser and the rest of the preliminary roster will attend training camp Dec. 16-20 at HarborCenter in Buffalo, N.Y., followed by an additional camp in Oshawa, Ontario, from Dec. 20-24. The U.S. will play pre-tournament games Dec. 21 against Switzerland at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, and Dec. 23 against the Czech Republic at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario.

The final roster is expected to be announced by Dec. 24.

Last week, UND freshman Tyson Jost was one of 32 players invited to Canada's World Junior Selection camp roster.
