The 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Women's At-Large Team has been released with a pair of University of North Dakota female student-athletes recognized: Steph Frey (swimming) and Halli Krzyzaniak (hockey). The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

The Academic All-District™ teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

Frey, a senior freestyler and breaststroker, was part of four Western Athletic Conference champion and school-record-setting relays this past season. Individually, she placed second in 100 breaststroke at WAC meet in an NCAA provisional cut time. The Bemidji, Minn., native led UND with 421.25 points this season, also pacing the squad with 34 wins. She'll leave North Dakota with her name on the school's top ten list in 10 different events, owning four relay records along with being the runner-up in three individual events. She is a 4.0 student in communication sciences and disorders.

Krzyzaniak, a senior defenseman, played in 36 games this past season, scoring five goals and adding 13 assists for 18 points. The Neepawa, Man., Canada, native blocked 76 shots and was a team-leading +15 plus/minus. She was named to the All-WCHA Second Team and was an All-WCHA Third Teamer in her previous two seasons. She was recently announced to the group that Hockey Canada centralizes for the upcoming 2018 Olympic Winter Games. She was a member of the Canadian National Women's Team that took silver at the 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship. She is a biology and pre-health major with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average.

The duo, along with eight other First-team Academic All-District 6 honorees and first team members in each of the other seven districts, will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
