Â
The Mastodons kept their lead, but UND continued to rally throughout the stanza. The Hawks cut the deficit to just a single point, 24-23, after a service ace from

Â
UND exploded out of the tie, scoring four straight points sparked by a
Taylor Riedl kill and a trio of Mastodon attack errors to force a Purdue Fort Wayne timeout and grab an 11-7 advantage.
Â
The theme of runs continued in the frame as Purdue Fort Wayne pieced together a spurt to even the score before eventually pulling ahead 19-17. UND responded right back with four straight thanks to a pair of errors by the Mastodons sandwiched between kills by Brueggeman and Ahrens to restore the lead for the Hawks, 21-19.
Â
In keeping with the theme, Purdue Fort Wayne had the last spurt as the Mastodons scored six unanswered points to stun UND with a 25-21 victory and took a commanding 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.
Â
The third set started strongly for Purdue Fort Wayne, scoring 11 of the first 15 points in the stanza to grab an early stranglehold, 11-4. UND battled back, cutting the deficit to four on three-different occasions, but it wasn't enough as the Mastodons held on for the 25-16 victory and the sweep.
