TAILGATE ENHANCEMENTS
In a partnership between the University of North Dakota and Spectra, the providers of Venue Management, Food Services & Hospitality, and Partnerships to Alerus Center, tailgate times have been adjusted to have lots open 5 hours prior to kick-off for all home games during the 2018 season.
Â
The layout of the tailgate lot has adjusted to provide a better experience for all fans. Tailgate Village has moved to the south of Entrance #1 to provide a closer location for fans and families arriving on game day without tailgate spots. Additionally, the southern section for season tailgaters and single game tailgaters has moved to the location Tailgate Village formerly occupied. This change allowed for the creation of 47 brand new season long tailgate spots, which have already been filled. Student tailgate spots have relocated to the spots formerly occupied by season tailgaters, to provide students their own space to tailgate during game day.
Â
Alerus Center will provide alcoholic beverage sales in Tailgate Village in the form of a beer garden for the first time at North Dakota Football games.
Â
Backspin Productions will provide DJ services in Tailgate Village to provide music and atmosphere to fans enjoying activities provided in the Tailgate Village area.
Â
A new and improved Kid Zone area will be located in Tailgate Village including giant inflatables from Jump 4 Joy bouncers, as well as field turf, and tailgate games.
Â
SECURITY UPDATES
As a reminder, Alerus Center will continue to use walk through metal detectors during all UND home football games. Fans are encouraged to allow for extra time to enter Alerus Center and to leave non-essential items at home. The following items are prohibited inside Alerus Center:

Â
TIPS FOR QUICK ENTRY

- Please limit your carry-in items to cell phones, keys, wallets, small clutch bags, and other essential items

NEW FOOD ITEMS
After the success of the new food items from last year, Spectra, the Food Services & Hospitality providers of Alerus, will be introducing four new items to our concession stands this year.Â
- Pickle Fries: Thinly sliced, battered and deep fried pickles.
- Sample Platter: An assortment of cheese curds, pickle fries, chicken strips, and shoestring fries.
- BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos: Tostitos chips topped with BBQ Pulled pork. Add your favorite toppings (lettuce, Pico de Gallo, onion, jalapenos, sour cream, and black olives) at our toppings bar.
- BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich: BBQ pulled pork loaded onto a hamburger bun served with a pickle spear.Â
Along with the new 2018 items, Alerus Center will maintain fan favorites from last year including the Coach Bubba Burger, Hawk Strips, and the Prime Rib Sandwich from Pub 42. Another new edition to the concession stand this year is that beer will be available for purchase at all locations. Also, be on the lookout for our other food and beverage offerings located around the concourse.Â
- Silver Bullet Bar: The Silver Bullet Bar at Alerus Center is a destination spot with a unique view for football games, concerts, and more. Featuring a one-of-a-kind bar on the SE bridge deck, the Silver Bullet Bar offers a birds eye view over the south end zone and is a great place to enjoy the event with friends and family. The Silver Bullet Bar is also available to reserve at our events or privately. Call Derek Hoffert at 701-335-3625 for more information.
- Barefoot Bar: Get Barefoot and have a great time at the new Barefoot Bar at Alerus Center. With a full bar featuring Barefoot Wines, New Amsterdam vodka, and much more, there truly is something for everyone. Check them out outside section 209 on the east concourse.
- Deek's Pizza: The legendary Grand Forks classic is back again at Alerus Center in 2018. Famous for their late-night offerings, Deek's pizza and breadsticks are available anytime of the day at all Alerus Center events. For great pizza that won't empty the pockets, check them out behind section 207 on the east concourse.
- Tacho Man: Tacho Man is new to Alerus Center in 2018. Tacho Man can be found operating out of the concession stand in Entrance 2 or out of his legendary food cart when Entrance 2 is not in use. With his blend of spices, sauces, and outright passion for food, Tacho Man is truly something to experience firsthand. Tacho Man will be serving chicken tacos, chicken nachos, and, of course, his famous Tachos at Alerus Center events this year.Â
NICKEL TROPHY
The historic Nickel Trophy will be displayed out at tailgating and in game on the concourse of the Alerus Center during the first three home football games. Fans will have the opportunity to view and take pictures with the notable heirloom from North Dakota's history.
Â
IN-GAME ENHANCEMENTS
North Dakota Athletics has partnered with Minneapolis based video production company sureCAN Productions to create five high quality, professionally produced in-venue videos including the North Dakota Football intro video to help enhance game day experience for fans.
Â
A special moment is planned pregame for all five home games during the home football season. Each moment will take place at one home game to enhance game day experience. These include a Freshman Run, game ball delivery via drone, a large American flag during the anthem at a game, the official mascot reveal, and a recognition of the senior class.
Â
A live social media feed will be displayed on the in-venue video boards during halftime. Fans can use the hashtags #LiveForGameDay or #UNDproud and have the chance to see their photos and posts from Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram be displayed in-game at the Alerus Center.
Â
MIDCO SN PRESS BOX
Alerus Center and Midco SN are proud to announce the Midco SN Press Box at Alerus Center. On gamedays, it's where all of the best minds in today's local sports journalism take in all the action from some of the best seats in the house and deliver it right to your phone or computer. On other event days, the Midco SN Press Box is available for rent to private groups. Call Derek Hoffert at 701-335-3625 for more information.
Â
NEW BROW LIGHT
The brow light (arching light on the exterior of Alerus Center) will be fully remodeled this year. Switching to new LED lights on the outside will provide Alerus Center with new functions. Some of those functions will include the ability to change the color of the brow and create chase scenes. This will allow Alerus Center to tailor the lighting for different events and even holidays.
