Fall camp notebook
Observations from Thursday
*Exactly three weeks remain until the North Dakota Fighting Hawks kickoff against Mississippi Valley State at 6:30 p.m. at the Alerus Center on Aug. 30.
*Thursday's practice was all about focus and getting better from start to finish. Coach Schweigert keyed in on being ready the second you come out to the field for practice.
*
Andrew Zimmerman and
Nate Ketteringham each continue to work with the ones and twos, getting reps with both units and some mixing and matching. Ketteringham stood out Thursday with a couple nice deep balls, one to
Tyler Burian over the middle for a long gain then later airing one out to
Garett Maag for a deep connection.
*
Otis Weah snared a ball in the corner of the endzone, showing his versatility out of the backfield.
*
Evan Holm broke up a pass late in the simulated situations but the refs got him for a pass interference. Tough call for the stripes.
*No real news on the injury front, which is good news.
Nathan Nguon is back to participating as the offensive line looks to shore up its rotation. There are a few spots up for grabs that OL Coach
Luke Knauf will have to sort out.
*The running backs continue with a few taking time off from prolonged reps, giving extended looks for guys live
Teddy Sherva,
Otis Weah and now
Cam McKinney, who moved back there yesterday.
*Friday is another morning practice followed by a Saturday off day with just meetings, walkthrough and a team activity.
