SERIES HISTORY:
North Dakota has won all seven prior meetings between the schools. The last series was a sweep at the Ralph Engelstad Arena to open the 2016-17 season (6-0 and 4-1).
LAST MEETINGS BETWEEN THESE TEAMS:
Defending national champion UND out-scored Canisius, 10-1, in a season-opening sweep at REA to start the 2016-17 campaign. Brock Boeser generated four points and
Cam Johnson pitched a shutout in the pipes in the 6-0 opening win while
Ludvig Hoff and

LAST REGULAR SEASON SERIES:
A late overtime goal helped sixth-ranked Denver salvage a series split with No. 14 North Dakota Dec. 7-8 at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. UND got first-period goals from freshmen
Gavin Hain and
Mark Senden Friday on the way to a 4-1 win before Saturday's heart-breaker.
The Fighting Hawks tied the score at 1-1 on a
Jacob Bernard-Docker goal at the 17:25 mark of the third only to see Jarid Lukosevicius pot the game-winner with just 21 seconds remaining in overtime.
GREAT EIGHT
North Dakota's last eight goals have come from eight different players. Since
Rhett Gardner's winner in the third period of the 4-3 victory over Alaska Anchorage Nov. 24, UND has had a different lamp-lighter in the month of December.

THAT WAS FUN...
Freshman G
Adam Scheel recorded the rare goalie assist on
Colton Poolman's incredible 185-foot empty-netter in the Dec. 7 win over Denver. Scheel fed Poolman behind his own net, then Poolman ringed a shot off the side boards and into the empty net on the other end for one of the more unusual plays to wrap up a 4-1 win for North Dakota in the series opener.
POLL POSITION:
UND moved up one to No. 13 in the most-recent USCHO.com poll (Dec. 10). North Dakota is just outside the rankings in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls that were released on Dec. 31.
POOLMAN OR IRON MAN?:
Junior captain
Colton Poolman (East Grand Forks, Minn.) has never missed a collegiate game in his career, having played in all 97 of UND's games since he arrived on campus.
Poolman is closing in on becoming the fourth active Fighting Hawk to reach the 100-games milestone for his career. He would join seniors
Rhett Gardner (129 games),
Joel Janatuinen (120) and
Hayden Shaw (117). Poolman has four goals and four assists through 17 games this season.
SCHEEL BE COMING 'ROUND THE MOUNTAIN:
Freshman G
Adam Scheel allowed just three goals on 43 shots in the series split with Denver Dec. 7-8. He has allowed one goal or fewer in half of his starts this season (6 of 12).
In the process, Scheel lowered his goals against average to 1.89 and leads the nation's freshmen in that category, ninth overall. Seven of Scheel's eight wins to date have come against nationally-ranked opponents.
