GRAND FORKS, N.D. – After collecting its third win over a ranked opponent this season, No. 22/22 North Dakota will look to make it three straight wins on Saturday against No. 3/3 Weber State from Ogden, Utah. Steve Klauke and Jerry Graybeal will have the call on Pluto TV while the usual trio of Jack Michaels, Mike Berg, and
Paul Ralston will handle the radio duties on the Home of Economy Radio Network.
Â
This will be the fifth meeting between North Dakota and Weber State, with the Wildcats claiming three of the first four meetings. UND's lone win in the series came in 2016, a 27-19 win in the Hawks' run to the Big Sky title. WSU clipped UND, 35-30, in last year's meeting between ranked opponents.
Â
UND concluded an up-and-down month for its secondary in October, finishing the four-game stretch ranked 14th in the FCS in pass defense. Over those games, the Hawks allowed over 300 yards through the air on two occasions (vs. UC Davis and at Idaho State), but held their final two opponents (at Cal Poly and vs. Montana State) under 100 yards through the air. UND finished the stretch with a 3-1 record.
Â
In its last game, UND took down another ranked opponent at home in No. 9/9 Montana State to move to 4-0 at the Alerus Center this season. It marks the third time since 2008 that the Hawks have started 4-0 in Grand Forks, and the first time they have knocked off three ranked teams. The No. 9 ranking held by Montana State was the highest-ranked opponent UND has defeated at home since Dec. 6, 2003 vs. North Alabama in the DII playoffs.
