Hawks Wrapping-Up Regular Season in Moorhead

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Coming off a weekend that rewrote North Dakota Track & Field's top-10 at Long Beach State and the Brian Clay Invitational, the Fighting Hawks will close their regular season this week at the Cobber Twilight and Ron Masanz Classic in Moorhead, Minn.

Hosted by Concordia College at Jake Christiansen Stadium and Athletic Complex, the Cobber Twilight will start at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23 while Saturday's Ron Masanz Classic at Nemzek Stadium will take place on The Ron Masanz Track.

UND's distance runners and throwers led the way for the program in Long Beach and Azusa, Calif., as several athletes improved their standing on UND's top-10 list, or broke through for the first time in an event.

After falling three-tenths of a second shy of tying her best time in the 800-meters in her last two races, Erica Eades broke through at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday night with a 2:10.88, smashing her previous best by two seconds. The time moved her to fourth all-time in the event at UND and was the fastest time by a Fighting Hawk since the University made the jump to Division I in 2008-09.

Fellow distance runners Hannah Oscarson and Madison Overby also improved their standing in the North Dakota record book as the duo finished with nearly identical times in the 1,500-meters at 4:31.24 and 4:31.26, respectively. Oscarson and Overby moved up to fourth and fifth at UND with their performances.

On the men's distance side, Connor Danielson broke the 15-minute mark for the first time in his career in the 5,000-meters as he ran a 14:55.10, moving him to third all-time in the UND record book.

Amber Hunsaker set new personal-records in Long Beach, throwing 144-8 (44.10m) in the javelin and 171-6 (52.27m) in the hammer, besting her previous PRs by over five feet and 16-feet, respectively. Molli Detloff hurled a season-best in the hammer at the Beach Invitational with a 216-11, the seventh-best mark in the NCAA this season.

Both Allison Lardy and Emma Gilbert moved up on the top-10 with new outdoor personal-bests in the shot put at 44-9 (13.66m) and 44-5.25 (13.54m), respectively. Makala Keefe also moved up the top-10 list, finishing the weekend with a 179-10 (54.82m) in the hammer throw.

Following this week's meets, the Fighting Hawks will take a week off to prepare for The Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by Western Illinois, May 8-10.
