GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team rolled past U-Mary, 6-1, on Saturday evening from Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks.
The Fighting Hawks dropped only three sets in the entire match, snapping a three-match losing streak and moving back to the .500 mark at 10-10. UND also ended its home season with a 3-1 mark.
UND rolled to three straight wins in doubles play to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. On the No. 1 and No. 3 courts, the duos of
Preethi Kasilingam and
Allie Ochotorena on the top position along with
Isa Sullivan and
Mary Wessman from the No. 3 position each captured 6-3 wins before
Alex Revenig and
Zahra Finnigan rolled to a 6-2 victory to cement the 1-0 lead.
Masha Lobanova stretched the advantage to 2-0 in favor of the hosts with back-to-back 6-1 triumphs on the No. 3 court and
Kaede Amano sealed the victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win from the top spot. UND kept up the momentum as Revenig and Wessman each recorded a sweep on the No. 2 and No. 5 courts, and
Jaylee Yasunaga captured the final victory of the day for the Hawks in three sets.
Mary posted a singles victory on the No. 6 court, but North Dakota picked up the 6-1 win. UND heads to Omaha for a Summit League showdown next Friday at 3 p.m.
