GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Former University of North Dakota guard
Jill Morton signed a professional basketball contract in Germany this week, agreeing to terms with Flippo Baskets BG 74 Veilchen Goettingen Ladies team.
"This is a great opportunity for Jill, who has been a tireless worker for our program over the last four years," said Head Coach
Travis Brewster. "Her hard work and growth as a leader have paid off for Jill as she transitions to a professional basketball career with a Master's degree from the University of North Dakota in hand. For that, I couldn't be prouder of Jill."
Morton led her class in career appearances with 125 over the last four seasons, including 31 games on the Fighting Hawks' Big Sky Regular Season Championship team in 2016-17.
Starting every game the last two seasons, the Edina, Minn., native averaged 9.8 points per game in 2018-19, and a career-best 10.3 points per game as a junior. She shot 40-percent from the field in her final 61 games for North Dakota. Morton scored in double figures 15 times last season, including a season-best 23 points at Oral Roberts to help North Dakota to a 75-67 road victory over the Golden Eagles.
Morton is the second player from North Dakota's senior Class of 2019 to sign a professional contract in Europe, joining First Team All-Summit League and Cheryl Miller Award Top-10 Finalist
Lexi Klabo, who signed an agreement to play in Belgium in May.
A member of the Damen Basketball Bundesliga – Germany's top-flight basketball league – the team finished 18-10 in the first division after gaining promotion in 2017-18 as the second division champion with a 17-1 mark.
