GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota women's basketball team released its 2019-20 non-conference schedule on Tuesday. The slate features six home dates at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center and 14 opponents.

The Fighting Hawks will open the season with an exhibition again Concordia College before opening the season in Arizona to take on the University of Arizona (Nov. 5) and Grand Canyon (Nov. 8).

"Opening with a road game against the WNIT Champion Arizona will test us right away," said Head Coach Travis Brewster. "The non-conference schedule and home slate will be exciting for our fans as well as our team. These games will all be in preparation for the tenacious Summit League that is always exciting.

UND will then play its home-opener against Rhode Island on Nov. 15 and follow up versus Valparaiso on Nov. 17. After a trip to Georgia Southern (Nov. 20), North Dakota will return home to host Illinois State on Nov. 24 and Northland two days later.

Thanksgiving will serve as a homecoming for Head Coach Travis Brewster as he'll lead the Fighting Hawks against his alma mater Charleston Southern on Nov. 30. The team will also play South Carolina State (Nov. 29) on the trip.

Taking the first week of December off for finals, UND will return to the court in Dallas to take on SMU (Dec. 9). North Dakota will then host Mayville State in its home final game of the non-conference season on Dec. 18 and close out its schedule at Milwaukee (Dec. 21) and New Orleans (Dec. 28).

In conclusion, Brewster added "this schedule will be a good challenge for our team of seven freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors, and one senior, making us one of the youngest teams in the country."

The Fighting Hawks will then begin its 16-game Summit League schedule on New Year's Day at Denver and open the new year at The Betty against Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 5.
