NOTES: UND goes for split at Southern Illinois

Next Game: vs. Southern Illinois
The University of North Dakota men's basketball team will close out its trip to Carbondale, Ill. with the final of two games against Southern Illinois on Friday at 3 p.m. Fans can watch all the action on ESPN3 as well as tuning into Paul Ralston's call on the Home of Economy Radio Network.

Series History vs. Southern Illinois
This will be the sixth all-time meeting between North Dakota and Southern Illinois, with SIU holding a 4-1 advantage in the series. Friday will mark only the third meeting in Carbondale, however, with the previous one coming back in 1956 prior to yesterday's contest. The two programs have actually met twice in the NCAA Tournament, with the Salukis winning both contests in 1965 and 1966.

Back 2 Back
Friday's meeting between UND and SIU will be unfamiliar territory for the Hawks, as it will be the first time playing the same opponent on back-to-back days since Feb. 3-4, 1983 vs. North Dakota State.

It is also the first time since Dec. 10/15, 2011 that UND has played the same opponent in back-to-back games during the regular season.

UND played South Dakota in back-to-back games in the final tilt of the regular season and the Summit League Quarterfinals last season.

Scoring Drought Haunts Hawks
UND looked poised to make it two wins in its last three tries against NDSU, but the Hawks were limited to just one field goal over the game's final 7:51 to see a 10-point cushion vanish in defeat.

A drought haunted UND once again in the loss to Southern Illinois, as the Hawks were held without a bucket for over eight minutes while SIU struck for 16 straight to build a 17-point halftime lead.
