Next Game: vs. North Dakota State
The No. 6 seeded University of North Dakota men's basketball team will look to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history with a showdown against No. 1 seed North Dakota State on Tuesday evening in the final from Sioux Falls. Series History vs. North Dakota State
This will be the 300th all-time meeting between North Dakota and North Dakota State, with UND owning a 161-137 lead in the series. While UND owns the overall series, NDSU holds a 9-5 advantage in the Division I chapter of the rivalry. The teams have only met 10 times on a neutral site, splitting the contests.Â
The last time UND and NDSU met in a conference tournament was Mar. 6, 1993 when the Fighting Sioux defeated the Bison, 72-59, in the North Central Conference title game from Sioux Falls. They have met two other times in postseason play, with each school winning on its home floor.Â
300!
With UND and NDSU set to square off for the 300th time, according to UND's records, the rivalry is set to become only the fifth active Division I rivalry to cross the 300-game plateau.Â

Defense Makes Dons Extinct
UND's defense was suffocating in the win over Purdue Fort Wayne, holding the Mastodons to just 56 points and 30.8% from the field. The 56 points allowed are the third fewest in a postseason game in UND's Division I era while the 19.4% allowed from three (6-for-31) was a season-low for the Hawks.
Sixth Seed Success
The Hawks accomplished something that no team in the Summit League has done since 2002, advance to the title game as the No. 6 seed. For only the second time in league history, a No. 1 and No. 6 seed will meet in the title game (No. 1 Valparaiso vs. No. 6 IUPUI - 2002). A sixth seed has never won the title. Â UND would also become only the second team (Oakland - 2005) to win the title with a record under .500.
