Throughout the first quarter, UND and Bucknell had a back and forth battle, but the Fighting Hawks would continue to maintain their lead and end the quarter up 13-11.

Heading into the second quarter up by two, Orth set the pace by stealing the ball twice and going down for two layups to expand the lead to 15-11. The Bison were quick to respond, but Orth would continue to attack their defense scoring another layup, free throw, and jump shot to give the Hawks a 7-4 run in the first four minutes of the second quarter. Bucknell would adjust their offense, and the rest of the second quarter consisted of constant scoring from both teams. North Dakota won the second quarter outscoring the Bison 17-12.

Heading into the second half, the Fighting Hawks led the Bison 30-23. After the half, the Bison modified their defense forcing the Hawks to take outside shots. In the third quarter the Fighting Hawks were outscored 15-20 yet maintained a two-point lead (45-43).
